Ordering & Uploading Photos

Q: What kind of photos work best for printing or framing?
A: Clear, sharp, high-resolution images (at least 1 MB or taken with a modern smartphone/camera). Avoid screenshots, heavily zoomed images, or photos taken from social media as they may appear pixelated. We can work with these however they are not the very best option.

Q: Can I upload photos directly from my phone?
A: Yes — our upload tool accepts images from your phone, tablet, or computer. JPEG and PNG are best.

Q: What if my photo is too small or blurry?
A: Our system may warn you, but if you’re unsure, we’ll always review your order and let you know if the image won’t produce a good result.

Q: Why can’t I see a live preview or mock-up of my photo in the frame before ordering?
A: Many large online services use automatic previews, but these are often inaccurate — colours, sizes, and finishes rarely look the same on a screen as they do in real life. Instead, at Arklow Photo & Framing, we personally check every order. If you’d like to see a proof before we print or frame your photo, simply choose the “Contact us for a proof” option at checkout, and we’ll send you a digital mock-up created by our team. This ensures your photo is optimised and looks its very best before we proceed.

Photo Do’s & Don’ts

Q: Can I use professional or copyrighted images?
A: Only if you have the photographer’s permission. We cannot print copyrighted or watermarked images without consent.

Q: Do you retouch or restore every photo automatically?
A: Yes and No — we only restore if you specifically order our Photo Restoration service. Otherwise, we print your photo as it is. For personalised gifts, canvases, photo blocks etc we will edit and improve the photo where requested and where possible as part of the service.

Q: Can I use photos from Facebook or WhatsApp?
A: These are often compressed and lower quality. We recommend uploading the original file from your camera roll for best results. 

Delivery & Collection

Q: How long will my order take?
A: Standard photo prints are usually ready within 2–3 working days. Custom framing or restoration may take longer — we’ll confirm timelines before processing.

Q: Do you deliver outside Ireland?
A: At the moment, we primarily deliver across Ireland. For international orders, please contact us directly.

Troubleshooting & Help

Q: My photo won’t upload — what should I do?
A: Check your file size and format (JPEG or PNG under 25 MB). If problems continue, email us the photo and we can place the order for you.

Q: I made a mistake on my order — can I change it?
A: Contact us as soon as possible. Once printing or framing has begun, changes may not be possible.

Returns & Issues

Q: What if my order arrives damaged?
A: Please contact us within 48 hours with photos of the damage. We’ll replace or refund as quickly as possible.

Q: Can I return personalised gifts or framed photos?
A: As these are custom-made, we can only accept returns if there’s a fault or damage.
